The N.P.A.R. Mission!!!

Team N.P.A.R. is First Responder Owned and involved in First Responder stress reduction and management. We metal detect and hike as a alternative way of stress decompression. Team N.P.A.R. attempts to help other First Responders in our community on a one on one basis. "You have to survive the job" "You also need to know when to ask for help". Emergency Service PTSD and Suicide is on the rise. We need to take care of our Own, the responsibility is ours . This is preventable, we can fix this!

N.P.A.R's big start

North Parish was included in our name because prior to our home town Montville being established as a town in 1896, it was formally known as the North Parish of New London from 1640-1896. And was thought to be a haven and fall back point for New Londonites at the burning of New London during the War of 1812.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     We are a Team that cares about the history of our town and the surrounding areasDriven by the sheer excitement of the history beneath our feet, we do not do any of this for any monetary compensation.  We don't do this looking for buried money or some pirates lost treasure (although there's always a possibility), we do it to understand and experience what was left behind by those before us. Homesteaders, ranchers pilgrims traveling far from home all were a part of forging the landscape and the places we call home. Team N.P.A.R. believes that the men and women, our country men deserve to have there story told. And we are here to do just that.

History of the Metal Detecting

-Alexander Graham Bell- Did not invent the first metal detector, as most would believe. A French gentleman did In 1874. "Parisian inventor Gustave Trouvé developed a hand-held device for locating and extracting metal objects such as bullets from human patients". However Bell hastily [for good reason] fashioned his own version he dubbed the "Induction Balance". He did so to find a bullet lodged inside of our 20th President, James Garfield's chest after being shot by an assassin in 1881. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful due to the springs in his mattress throwing the signal off.

Gustave Trouvé
...................................................

-Józef Kosacki
a Polish soldier and engineer who during his stay in Scotland invented the "mine detector", or what is commonly known as the "Metal Detector"
that was used by the British Army until 1995. Kozacki’s name is just one of many on the list of Polish inventors that contributed to the Allied victory during WWII. This small but important invention is still being used in many countries, and has saved countless lives across the globe.

Trash we pulled from one trip. Cans, bottle caps, Fish hooks, Steel rods, razors, jagged tin and a broken fillet knife. Think about that next time you are on a beach.
We clean the dirt and sand!!!!!
